He’s a warrior, but I keep him in the Dalish starting light armor, and he dual wields a Dar’Misaan and a dar’misu, later swapping out the short sword for a dal’thanu (war axe) when you can dual wield main weapons.
I make him elfy as fuck, at least at first, so he only feels comfortable using weapons made by the Dalish. My canon Warden was the most skilled warrior in his clan, a prodigy. I’ll tell you how I always envisioned it. Ive actually played it on easy for roleplaying so that I could keep using the beginner Dalish sword and bow for my head cannon haha. My canon run is a Dalish warrior so I’ve thought a lot about this. The Ancient Elven armor in Origins is medium, but by design it’s metal and definitely implies elves have trained in heavier armor types throughout history. The Dalish warrior armor in DAI is heavy armor. I’d envision every clan has a couple bigger elves who train in heavier armor and the two-handed axe, dal’thanaan. But more skilled warriors probably train with long swords, axes, etc. Leather is easier to make when resources are scarce, like the Dalish face. It’s probably a situation where most Dalish are going to wear leather armor and use bows and short swords of practicality. A dual wielding dagger rogue dalish is probably how most hunters would choose to fight at close range and works perfectly as a hunter. The Dalish have their own version of all of this stuff (Dar’Misu, Dar’Misaan, etc) that you can find in the Dalish origin or again in the Dalish section. So it’d make sense for them to not only be trained in bow and arrow, but also short swords, long swords, shields, etc. From what I’ve been able to gather, any Dalish who is deemed a “hunter” is not only a hunter in the traditional sense, but also the warriors that protect and fight for the clan. Lore wise, they have all sorts of weapons.
